Jamila Awou Mission
Jamila Awou is here for you! The organization was created when one of its founders, Giovanni Kague, traveled to his home country of Togo, West Africa and was inspired by the rich textile and African print industry- Gio saw the opportunity grow as more and more friends abroad loved what he was seeing and wanted a piece of the merchandise. Fast forward, Gio returns to the US with a luggage-worth of African print fabrics, pitched the business idea to one of his friends and the rest was history. The name “Jamila” in Swahili means “Beautiful” and “Awou” in Éwe, the dialect of Togo, means clothing. Simply so, the mission of Jamila Awou’s business is to provide beautiful clothing inspired and made in Togo. As a startup, the next phase of its business development is designing the company logo all the way to developing an agile supply chain network. “When you think of the logo think of the beauty of a woman yet the masculinity of a man. Inside the beauty of Togo and all the culture has to offer. Where a lady would be the "J" and a man would be the "A". It's a vision brought together by the background of Togo and Africa. We want to share this beauty with world!” - Jamila Awou, Co-founder, Jenerica
